SUDDEN DEATH OF VERGE WILLIAMS
Frank DeVerge (Verge) Williams, 37, former well known Montpelier resident, died Tuesday afternoon in an Upland, California hospital of cerebral hemorrhage. Death followed a few hours after being stricken at his home in Cucamonga.
Remains are en route to Matthews Mortuary and services will be announced on arrival of relatives from Cucamonga.
Mrs. Williams was a resident of Montpelier from 1916 to May 1, 1946 when he and his father, the late Frank M. Williams sold their mortuary to Nile Matthews and moved to Cucamonga and entered the motel business. His father, Frank M. Williams died January 14, 1947.
A graduate of the local high school, and mortician’s college, Los Angeles, he was associated with his father here in the Williams Mortuary, and also operated an insurance business. Active in civic and fraternal affairs, he was a member of Montpelier L. O. O. M. No 858, Woodmen of the World, Pocatello Elks Lodge, chamber of commerce, Rotary club and Rainbow Rod and Gun club.
He was born May 16, 1912 at Rexburg, Idaho where he resided before coming to Montpelier with his parents. He was a member of the L. D. S. Church.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Stella L. Williams, with whom he was associated in business at Cucamonga; widow, Marguerite Clayton Williams and three children, Jo Ann, Frank and Paul; a sister, Mrs. Ferris K. (Verona) Nate of Montpelier; and a half sister, Mrs. Beth Parkinson, wife of Dr. E. D. Parkinson of Boise.

VERGE WILLIAMS BURIED MONDAY
Funeral services were conducted in Montpelier Monday afternoon for Frank Verge Williams, 37, a former Montpelier resident who died Aug. 2 in an Upland, California hospital of cerebral hemorrhage. Services were in the First Ward LDS Church with Bishop Royal Clark conducting.
Deceased was born May 16, 1912, in Rexburg, Idaho, son of Frank M. and Stella Williams. The family moved to Montpelier in 1916 and resided there until May of 1946, when they moved to Cucamonga, California.
Verge was a graduate of Montpelier high school. He later attended a morticians college in Los Angeles, California, and for many years had been associated with his father in the Williams Mortuary of Montpelier. He had also operated an insurance business. He married Marguerite Clayton in Montpelier. He was a member of the LDS church and also belonged to Loyal Order of Moose lodge, Woodmen of the World, Rotary club, Chamber of Commerce and Rainbow Rod & Gun club while residing in Montpelier. He was also a member of the Pocatello Elks lodge.
When the Williams families left Montpelier they sold the mortuary to Nile Matthews, present owner. In California the Williams had been in the auto court business.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, Frank and Paul, ad daughter, Jo Ann; his mother, Mrs. Frank Williams, all of Cucamonga, California; one sister Mrs. Ferris Nate of Montpelier; a half-sister, Mrs. Beth Parkinson of Boise, Idaho.
Burial was in the Montpelier cemetery.

FINAL RITES HELD MONDAY
Funeral services for Frank DeVerge Williams, who died August 2 at Cucamonga, California, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, in the First Ward chapel, with Bishop Royal D. Clark officiating. The opening song, “Abide With Me,” was by a quartet comprised of Mrs. Walter Hunzeker, Mrs. Claudia Williamson, Lorenzo Swensen and John G. Kennard, and accompanied by Mrs. Blake Aland; invoication, Frank Knutti; vocal solo, “Our Garden,” Gladys Mumford, accompanied by Mrs. Lewis Dayton; speaker, Bishop Eugene P. Shepherd; vocal duet, “Beautiful Land,” Mr. and Mrs. James Olsen, accompanied by Mrs. Preston Michaelson; speaker, H. G. Nuckols; song, “Sometime We’ll Understand,” quartet; benediction, Nile Matthews.
Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Wilford Jensen. Members of Montpelier L. O. O. M. No. 858 conducted short services at the graveside.
Pall bearers were Kenneth Regnier, F. W. Nuttall, Robert Clayton, Arthur Clayton, Rulon Bartschi and Ferris Nate. Floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
