Mary (Goodyear) Lake was christened on January 22, 1629 at St. Mary Woolnoth Parish in London. She was the daughter of Stephen Goodyeare, who worked as a merchant in London. A record of marriage between her parents can be found for the year 1620, at St Gregory by St Paul, in London, England.
Her mother's full name is not entirely clear. A handwritten christening record at St. Mary Woolnoth's appears to show her mother was named Fhdena. However, her mother's name was recorded as Mary, when her mother lived in the New Haven Colony. A few family trees name her mother as Mary Gibbard, although the source of this information is unknown.
Mary Goodyear and her sister named Hannah Goodyear immigrated from London to New Haven, along with their parents. They arrived in New Haven on May 22, 1640, on a ship named "St. John". Their sister named Lydia was born in New Haven, in 1645. The three sisters are listed on the printed page of 55, in "The Goodyear Genealogy".
Her mother went missing around 1646, while on a voyage back to England to claim an inheritance.
When she was 19 years old, her father married again, in New Haven in 1648. Her stepmother was named Margaret (Lewen) Lamberton Goodyear (1614 - after 1670).
Mary Goodyear married Capt. Thomas Lake of Boston, at the age of 20, in 1649.
She passed away at the age of 76.
