[outsidemarriner.FTW] OBITUARY ALICE DARLENE SCULLY, the daughter of Victor and Lula Mack was born October 10, 1918 on a farm near Clay Center, Nebraska and passed away October 4, 1986 in Hastings, Nebraska. Alice was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Clay Center and the BPOE Auxiliary Number 1812 of El Cajon, California. Left to hold sacred memory are: her daughter Connie and husband Steve McMahon of Spring Valley, California and their son Ryan McMahon, her sons: David and wife Jaleh Scully of Los Angeles, California, and son Larry and wife Donna Scully of Roseburg, Oregon and their children Mrs. Shannon Davis, Mrs. Rhonda Bennett and Lyle Scully, her parents Victor & Lula Mack of Clay Center and sister Ardyth, Mrs. Raymond Anderson of Clay Center and a host of other relatives and friends. Alice was looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild next month. The rest of this obituary is what Alice wrote up for her Alumni this spring. In the fall of 1937 I went to the University of Nebraska. It didn't take long for me to realize that my money wasn't going to last four years. In 1939 I went to the Lincoln School of Commerce. In 1940 I went to work for the Triple A Office as secretary-treasurer until 1942 at which time I quit and went to San Diego, California. It was the beginning of the war and work was plentiful. I went to work for General Dynamics as a tool planner until there was an opening in the Army Air Corp Office in the auditing department, there I remained until after the war. In July of 1946 I was married to Clifford Scully, a widower with two small sons. I became a very busy homemaker with a rapid change in my life style. In May 1948 we had a daughter to add to our family which made our family complete. In 1955 we sold our home in San Diego and bought a home in El Cajon on the rim of the Valley. I worked off and on doing many different things. I was a dispatcher for several years, worked for an auto dealership as a bookkeeper, selling door to door, baby sitting , etc. In May 1972 my husband had a massive heart attack and died. I lived in the house for a year but it was too large for me to keep up so I sold it and moved into an apartment. When my lease was up I moved back to Nebraska where I could be of some help to my parents as they are still living. I went to work at the Clay County Assessors office and worked there until retirement. Since then my father has had to go to the Sutton Nursing Home to live and I take my mother over to see him nearly every day. Received information from McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, Nebraska October 1996--- Alice's remains were shipped to Paris-Frederick Mortuary, 374 North Magnolia Ave, El Cajon, California 92020. Obituary information was sent by Lawrence McLaughlin from the chapel. He gave information concerning her children and sister as well as mother. Information received January 1997 from Paris-Frederick Mortuary included a copy of the permit for transit from Nebraska to California, the permit for disposition of Human remains from California, death certificate, obituary and memorial card. Alice is buried in El Cajon Cemetery, 2080 Dehesa Rd, El Cajon, California in lot 17 - 30 - B. The death certificate gives the cause of death as a pulmonary arrest due to a type of anemia due to a stroke. Prior to her death she was a secretary in the Adams county assessors office.
