[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 9, Ed. 1, Tree #2432, Date of Import: Oct 20, 2000] FRANK ELWYN KESSLER Elder Frank Elwyn Kessler, son of David Elijah and (Mattie) Martha Ann (Boyd) Kessler, was born April 30, 1900, near Virginia, Nebraska. In1901, he, along with his folks, moved to Eldorado, Kansas. They left Eldorado in 1910 and moved back to Nebraska. In December 1918, he was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which he remained faithful. In 1919, he moved to Sawyer, Kansas, with his folks. On August 8, 1926, he was united in marriage with Mabel Pearl Killingsworth. They enjoyed over 68 years together. They were called to the Ministry in 1949, and Ordained to the Elder-Ship in 1964. This union was blessed with one daughter, Neva Marie Reece, who preceded him in death. Two brothers Verne and Faye, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his companion; one son-in-law, Melvin Henry Reece and companion, Erlene; four grandchildren; Wanda Eileen Ring and companion, Raymond Walter; Marilyn Arlene Loomis; Galen Warren Reece and companion, Layne; and Merlin Reece and companion, Teresa Renee; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Belle Skiles Long; and one brother, Raymond Kessler. In October 1993, he called for the anointing by the Elders of the Church. On December 18, 1994, he attended Church one last time and celebrated Christmas with his family. On December 20, he fell and fractured his hip. His health declined rapidly, and on January 5, 1995, the family was called to his side. He passed away in the evening and went to be with the Lord at the age of 94 years, 8 months, and 6 days. Services were held at Larrison Mortuary and the Sand Creek Meetinghouse on January 9, by the home Brethren. He was laid to rest in the Pleasantview Cemetery. Ps.23 and hymn 539 were used at the mortuary. Rev.1:3 and hymns 451 and 396 were used at the meetinghouse. Hymns 484, 460, and 242 were used at the graveside. His quiet and humble spirit will be remembered and missed by his companion, family, and friends. The Family.
