[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 9, Ed. 1, Tree #2432, Date of Import: Oct 20, 2000] CUBA LOUISE (GARDNER) BAKER: Cuba Louise Baker, 82, Osceola, Mo., died Tuesday, May 31, 1994, at St.John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. She was born September 9, 1911 near Collins,Missouri to William Finch and Clara Luella (Frazier) Gardner. On December 3, 1930 she married Fred Rufus Baker at Hermitage, Missouri. They farmed east of Rainey until 1964 when they moved south of Osceola where they now live. Cuba worked as a cook in several restaurants and was known for her blackberry cobblers, which she loved to cook for her special nephews. She had a great love for cooking and always shared with others. Her greatest joy was having family and friends visit or a phone call. Cuba was a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church and after moving she faithfully attended the Vista Baptist Church. She always supported the Vacation Bible School and enjoyed the children very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Martha Ellen Ward and Clara Mae Lovewell, four brothers, Andy, Jim, Bert, and Paul Gardner. She is survived by her husband Fred, 63 years of the home, a nephew, whom she raised as a son, Howard Dosier of Raymore, Missouri, and his wife, Joyce, Three grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Services were held on Thursday, June 2 at 2 P. M. at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Officiating were Rev. Clarence Hyde and Rev. Durward Scott. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hartley. The casketbearers were Ken Tillotson, Doug Wisner, Charles Brown, Larry Shelby, Dale Roeder, Ernest Harmon, and Ernest Roeder. Interment was in the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, Collins,Missouri under the Direction of Randy Sheldon, Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, Missouri. Cuba Baker was Baptised into the Christian Church August 29, 1926. Fred and Cuba moved to Osceola, Missouri, December 1964. Darrell Gardner David Lee Gardner; Went into U.S. Army- March 10, 1969.
