KNAPE Funeral services were held at 10:30 Tuesday , July 7 at Olmstead Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Margaret Ruth Knape of Heber Springs, who passed away Saturday, July 3 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock at the age of 64. The daughter of John M. and Martha L. Grenlee Dillie, she was born April 12, 1912 at Hebron, Nebr. and had resided in Heber Springs for the past two years. She married Fred W. Knape April 2, 1938 in Concordia, Kan., and she and her husband resided in a number of places throughout the country because of his employment with the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Mrs. Knape was a member of the First United Methodist Church, which she loved dearly. Because of poor health, she had been unable to attend church services but instead listened to tapes of the Sunday morning worship services which had been made by her pastor each Sunday. After becoming disabled Mrs. Knape stayed mentally alert, occupying her time with reading, needlework, caring for house plants and listening to music. She had devoted her entire life to caring for her home and family which in turn nurtured the devotion of her surviving child. Mrs. Knape was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Ann Knape, who passed away Aug. 13, 1953 at the age of 12. Survivors inn addition to her husband include one daughter, Mrs. Jeannie Howard of Heber Springs; one brother, Frank Dillie of Walnut Ridge; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Huff of Omaha, Nebr., one grandchild, besides other relatives and many friends. Rev. Byron McSpadden conducted the final service and interment in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were /bill Deckard, Harry Gordon, Norvell Love, Dickie Howard, Louie Asbury, Robert Spinks, Joe Southall and Willie and Jim Barger.
