Monty was born in Clear Creek, Utah on March 21, 1906, to George Albert "G.A." and Pauline M. Christensen. Monty married Silas William Andersen in 1929 or so, a fact she forgot to mention to anyone for over a years in order to protect her position as a school teacher in Carbon County, from the anti-nepotism policies of the Depression. Monty resided in Price, Utah for 54 years, where, after retiring from the educational system, she worked for the State of Utah for 19 years. Monty loved golf, and particularly the regularity with which she beat both of her sons in their frequent rounds; bowling; and taking other people's money at cards. Monty also jealously guarded her position as black sheep of her family, a role in which she would brook no competition from any of her sibs, except on rare occasion from her sister, Alta.
