"Like I said, Silas Anderson was my childhood friend's father. Every morning, I would walk the three doors down, pick him up and we would go on to school. When I was in the 9th grade, I stopped to pick him up and the Chief of Police, Albert Pasic [sic] answered the door and said the Lynn wouldn't be going that morning.
When I got to school, everyone was walking around saying things like, "Can you believe it?" or "Did you hear what happened?"
Over the next several days and weeks, I finally found out that he'd bought a gun, gone to an area outside of the city and shot himself. Years later, a man who'd been a principal at the same time Silas was said that he'd had some health issues and a serious depression problem.
Lynn and his mother never really got over it, at least in my young mind. Even though she had a teaching certificate and was teaching when she met her husband, she didn't go back into teaching. For years she worked down at the state liquor store in Price.
I remember her being very proper, very intelligent (always correcting my grammar}, and not overtly emotional.
She and Silas were members of the Carbon Country Club and were golfing fanatics. (She said she'd come from a rather large family in Salt Lake and bragged about being the black sheep of her family.)
Silas was part owner of the family farm in Richmond, Utah and would spend every summer there. After his death, they quit going.
There is something else you may have already looked up. My father says that Silas had been married before marrying Montez LaRue Christensen. Supposedly this wife was killed in a auto accident or something.
By the way, I've never heard her called Montez. It was always Monty.
The last time I spoke to Lynn was about 1970. He'd been laid off by Bendix Corp in Florida and was living there. However, my mother has seen and spoken to him several times over the years but our paths haven't crossed we graduated from CEU and left Price.
The reason I found your query was because about a week ago I went to a Carbon High Class reunion, and he was listed as having recently died. Most of us who'd really knew him said that wasn't true. The last address I had for him is in Jasper, Florida.
If you have Lynn's current number, I'd really like it."

Grandfather (Silas Andersen)/ Ancestry.com
/ Ancestry.comYour grandfather's name was Silas. He lived in Price, Utah at 480 East Fourth North. Right across the street from the College of Eastern Utah. The house is gone now. It was bought by the LDS church and torn down right after his wife, Montez died. He has two sons. One Jerry was a law professor as UofU died of a heart attack at the age of 48. His other son's name was Lynn William. He is living in Florida. Silas was the Principal of Price Junior High School. Contact me and I'll tell how that happened. I'll never forget the day. I'm honestly surprised that he had grandchildren. Lynn doesn't have kids, and I didn't think Jerry did either. But, I'm obviously wrong. I lived three houses away for most of my childhood. Lynn was my best friend. My mother tells me that he buried in Richmond, Utah. That's where he's from. I assume Montez (Monty) is buried there also. I know a lot more than I can write here.
