1759 Militia List, occupation labourer LAST WILL & TESTAMENT of Francis Arnold 1787 8HW20 The Last Will and Testament of me Francis Arnold of Pirton in the County of Hertford Yeoman as follows (that is to say) First I Give and Devise my Freehold Cottage or Tenement at Apsley End in the Parish of Shitlington in the County of Bedford in the Occupation of George Arnold with a close of Pasture therewith adjoining And my Freehold Cottage or Tenement in Pirton aforesaid in the Occupation of John Hill with the Orchard and Garden thereto belonging unto my Grandson Thomas Hailey his Heirs and Assigns for Ever. I also Give and Devise my Freehold Cottage or Tenement and Dovehouse with the Appertenances Situate on Little Green in Pirton aforesaid in the Occupation of Dan Thompson Unto my Grandson George Arnold Hailey his Heirs and Assigns for ever. I also Give and Devise All and singular other my Messuages Cottages Lands Tenements and Heredits whatsoever and wheresoever as well Freehold as Copyhold (the Copyhold parts being Surrendered to the Use of my Will) Unto my Son in Law Thomas Hailey his Heirs and Assigns for Ever Subject to the Payment of the sum of Two Hundred Pounds which I give thereof to my Son in Law John Oakley to be paid in manner following (that is to say) One Hundred pounds part thereof within Twelve Months next after my Decease, Fifty Pounds other part thereof within two Years next after my Decease And the remaining Fifty Pounds residue thereof within three Years next after my Decease And in case of his Death before full Payment of the said Legacy or Sum of Two hundred pounds I Direct so much thereof as shall remain unpaid at his Decease shall be paid to his Executors or Administrators. And all my Money Securities for Money Goods Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever (after Payment of my just Debts Funeral and incident Expenses) I Give and Bequeath unto my said Son in Law Thomas Hailey Whom I Appoint Sole Executor of this my Will Hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I the said Francis Arnold have here unto Set my Hand and Seal the Twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and eighty seven.
