Notities over ROGER GOLDSMITH

No record of a Roger Goldsmith in the IGI in any county. Noted as "of Ampthill" in Allen Marriages Index. However in the book "A Harvest of Hexton" the Goldsmiths are known to have been living in Hexton for a couple of hundred years...

"In 1435 the tenants who owned the largest holdings of land under the Abbott were the Auncells, Hales, GOLDSMYTHES and Crouches....these families remained in the village over the next two centuries...."

1565 there is the mention in the parish register that a servant of Richard Goldsmith, Lettice Wilson, was buried on "the last day of Aprill 1565"
