Notities over ROBERT CARTER

1574 An entry in the Court Rolls for this year mentions "Rob't CARTER, alehouse keeper, fined for breaking the assize."

The Carters had succeeded the Brookes and the Johnsons as landlords of the Red Lion Inn supplying the church "ales and Hocktide ales as the season came around. Overcharging or short measure contravened the law, and had to come before the manor Court."
