Elizabeth Peyton was born in Middlesex County, Virginia colony abt 1668. She was the daughter of Maj Robert Peyton (1640-1686) and unknown wife. Robert Peyton of 'Isleham', Gloucester County, Virginia, was a grandson of Sir Edward Peyton.
Elizabeth married Peter Beverley (1668-1728) in Middlesex County, Virginia in 1698. Peter Beverley was the first of three sons born to Major Robert Beverley of Yorkshire, England and his wife, Mary (Boyd) Keeble Beverley. Colonel Peter Beverley, of Gloucester County, was clerk of the House of Burgesses 1691-99, clerk of Gloucester County 1702-14; Speaker of House of Burgesses 1700-1714; Treasurer of Virginia; appointed a member of the Council in 1719, and died in 1728.
Colonel Peter and Elizabeth Beverley were the parents of the following known children: Three daughters: Susanna, Elizabeth and Anne. Their daughter, Elizabeth, married William Randolph II around 1705 and had five children that lived to adulthood. Their daughter, Susanna, married Sir John Randolph. And daughter Anne married Henry Whiting.
Elizabeth was the grandmother of Elizabeth Whiting who married Dr. John Clayton. Elizabeth was also the grandmother of Peyton Randolph, a speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses, chairman of the Virginia Conventions, and the first President of the Continental Congress; as well as the great-grandmother of Beverley Randolph, the eighth Governor of Virginia and William Fitzhugh's wife, Ann Bolling Randolph Fitzhugh. The Randolphs were lineal descendants of Pocahontas.
