April 7, 1778 -- date James Fitz Randolph's will which indicated that he was a man of considerable property.

to his wife Deliverance, during her lifetime, 'my plantation wheron I now live, as far as the fence south of Lahaway' [brook]
[my] personal estate, by the inventory, amounted to £378.0.9; devised saw mills, cedar swamps, pine lands, negroes, salt works, and plantation at 'Sketor Cove,' and ordered his sloop to be sold
[my] sons, Samuel, John, Isaac, and Stephen, to be put to trades, [and] to receive their portions at the age of 21
[my] daughter, Hannah [the future wife of William Longstreet] hers at [age] 18 [i.e., 1779] or marriage.
