Kind(eren):
Bertrand I. , died in 1144 , was Count of Forcalquier from 1129 to 1144 . He was the son of William III. And of Garsend of Albon.
According to the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy , he succeeded his brother Guigues in 1149, but died soon after. According to Florian Mazel , he would have been a count from 1129 to 1144. The two versions can be reconciled by considering that the county of Forcalquier was under the system of undivided succession, as had been the county of Provence before. Bertrand could very well have died in 1144 before his brother who would have remained the only count, or count with his nephews.
As soon as his father Guillaume died, he had to struggle within his own county to maintain his authority. In the Entrevennes-Mison he took the villages of Montfort and Chateau-Arnoux , who did not pay the albergue . These communities and lords took advantage of the Baussencian wars to call themselves the Count of Barcelona.
From his wife Josserande de Flotte (daughter of Arnould and Adelaide de Comps), he had had:
Bertrand II († 1207), Count of Forcalquier
William IV († 1209), Count of Forcalquier
Josserand (v. 1150) who settled in Jarez and founded the branch of the Durgel Saint-Priest
Alix († after 1219), married in 1180 to Giraud Amic de Sabran, lord of Chateauneuf, du Thor and Jonquières.
