Anna von der Pfalz , also Anna of Bavaria or Anna von Berg (1346-30. November 1415 in Düsseldorf ) was a Palatine princess from the house Wittelsbach , by marriage duchess of mountain .
Anna was the eldest daughter of Elector Ruprecht II of the Palatinate (1325-1398) and his wife Beatrix of Sicily-Aragon (1326-1365). The parents resided in Heidelberg, but in the absence of their husbands, the mother often stayed with the children in the Monastery of Liebenau in Worms , where her widowed mother-in-law Irmengard von Oettingen lived as a Dominican .
Since 1386 the ruling dynasty resided in Dusseldorf, where they built a castle on the Rhine and extended both the small parish church of St. Lambertus and the city itself. At the Duesseldorfer Hof they also sponsored the priest Adolf von Essen (1350-1439), who spread the rosary prayer in Germany. He later became the spiritual leader of Margaret of Lorraine , a Wittelsbach princess and niece Annas of the Palatinate.
Anna's brother was the German king Ruprecht , at the same time as Ruprecht III. also Elector of the Palatinate.
Duchess Anne and Duke William II had several children, the daughter Beatrix (1360-1395) married the widowed, 75-year-old Palatine Elector Ruprecht I. , the grand-son of her mother Anna. Beatrix was buried as a Palatine Electress, next to her husband, at a central location in the Stiftskirche in Neustadt .
Anna's son Ruprecht von Berg (1365-1394) was the prince-bishop of Paderborn and of Passau , a highly educated and energetic superior, who died at the plague with only 29 years, but before he could receive bishops' ordination.
Another son of the prince was Wilhelm von Berg (1382-1428). Between 1402 and 1414, he also served as the prince-bishop of Paderborn, reforming the diocese together with his spiritual adviser Gobelin Person (1358-1421) in the spirit of Devotio moderna . Wilhelm von Berg had no spiritual consecration, finally returned from his bishop's office, and married in 1416 to keep the family tribe.
Anna of the Palatinate died in 1415 and was buried in the family tomb of the Stiftskirche St. Lambertus, dug out by her and her husband to the new family dignity.
