1727 Wrote his last will and testament : LAST WILL & TESTAMENT George Hobbs172762HW33 The last Will and Testament of me George Hobbs of Pirton in the County of Hertford Labourer. IMPRIMIS I give and devise unto Jane my loving wife and her assignes all that cottage or tenement with the appurtenances scituate in Pirton aforesaid in the occupation of Samuel Cox or his assignes together with all out houses edifices buildings barns stables yards gardens orchards hedges ditches trees foures comons ways waters easements proffits commodities and appurtenances to the said cottage & premisses belonging or in any wise appertaining to hold the said cottage & premisses unto the said Jane my wife and her assignes for the term of her natural life ITEM all the rest & residue of my real & personal estate whatsoever I give & bequeath unto the said Jane my loving wife whom I do hereby nominate & appoynt sole executrix of this my will & revoking all former wills by me made I do hereby acknowledge this to be my last will & testament IN WITNESS whereof I the said George Hobbs have hereunto sett my hand & seal this second day of March in the first year of the reigne of King George the second over Great Britain etc Anno Dom[ini] 1727 Signed by GEORGE HOBBS Signed sealed published & declared to be the last will & testament of the said George Hobbs the testator in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto at the request & in the presence of the said testator JOHN WILSHIER THOMAS SAMS THOMAS RUST 1734 mentioned in the will of Thomas Wiltshire, the uncle of his wife Jane, and noted as occupying ".............messuage or tenement with the appurtenances situate standing and being in Pirton aforesaid and also all those eight acres of ffreehold arrable land be the same more or less lying in the several ffields of Pirton aforesaid which I lately purchased of Joseph Halstead late of Baldock in the County of Hertford aforesaid and which are now in the occupation of George Hobbs...."
