1727 John was the main beneficiary of his mother's will. See below: 1727 The last will and testament of me Mary Harding of Pirton in the County of Hertford Widow IMPRIMIS I give and devise unto John Harding my son all that messuage or tenement (wherein I now dwell) and pightle or close of pasture ground thereunto adjoyning an belonging scituate and being in Pirton aforesaid with every of their rights members appendants and appurtenances to hold the same premisses unto him the said John Harding his heirs and assignes forever ITEM I give and devise more unto the said John Harding my son all that close by estimation of customary or coppyhold arrable land with the appurtenances lying in Dog Hole in the White field in the parish of Pirton aforesaid and also all that acre and three roods of arrable land (more or less) lying in Stoney lands in the Windmill ffield and in Rye furlong in Hambridge field in the parish of Pirton aforesaid and also all that half acre [of arrable land – crossed out] by estimation of arrable land lying in a shott called peason hill in the said parish of Pirton to hold the said lands and premisses with the appurtenances unto him the said John Harding and to his heirs and assignes forever upon condition that he the said John Harding shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto Thoms Harding my son of Pirton aforesaid the sum of ten pounds of lawfull British money and unto Robert Harding my son of Pirton aforesaid the like sum of ten pounds and to Mary the now wife of Robert Wheeler the like sum of ten pounds within twelve moneths next after my decease out of the arrable lands so given unto him as aforesaid. But in case the said John Harding my son his heirs or assignes of any of them shall not pay or cause to be paid unto the said Thomas Harding Robert Harding and Mary Wheeler their said several legacies in manner as before in this my last will is sett forth that then and in such case my will and true meaning is (that my said sons Thomas and Robert and my daughter Mary Wheler all and every of them that shall not be paid or otherwise satisfied their said severa legacies before given unto every of them) that it shall and may be lawfull to and for them the said Thomas and Robert Harding my sons and Mary Wheeler my daughter their executors
