Notities over John CLINTON

Second, but first surviving son and heir, he served, or was called upon to serve in the Scottish and French wars. He was summoned to Parliament 6 Feb 1298/99, whereby he is held to have become Lord Clinton, but he was never so summoned again. He appears to have been Knight of the shire for co. Warwick, 1300-1301, and was Constable of Wallingford Castle in 1302. He married Ida, sister and coheir of Edmund de Odingsels, first daughter of William de Odingsels of Maxstoke by Ela, daughter of Walter Fitz Robert, with whom he acquired the Lordship and Castle of Maxstoke, and other considerable possessions.
