Johan Bruges was also known as Joan Brugge.She was born circa 1503 at Newbury, Berkshire, England; N.B.: no surviving Parish Register entries to confirm CMB dates.

She married John Gifford and William Thornehull, son of Thomas Thornhull.

She was named as a beneficiary in her father Henry's will on 5 December 1538: "I bequeth to Johan Thornehull my Doughter twenty pound[es]."

Joane Thornhull was named as sole Executrix in the will of her husband William on 8 July 1548 at the Countie of Dorset, England.

Johan Bruges died in 1557 at Thornhill, Dorset, England.

Administration of the estate of William Thornhull was granted to his wife Joan on 16 October 1557 at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, England.

She was buried between December 1557 and February 1557/58 at the Parishe Church of Stalbridge, Dorset, England.
