In the Name of God Amen I JOHN FLINT THE ELDER of Shitlington in the County of Bedds husbandman being old in yeares but of perfect mind and memory Blessed bee God for the same therefore doe make this my last will and testament as followeth first I comend my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my maker hopeinge by the Sole merritts of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer to have all my Sinnes comitted and to bee made partaker of eternall Life for my body I comitt to the earth whereof it was made to bee buried in such seemly sort as my executor hereafter named shall thinke fitt as for that worldly estate which it hath pleased God to Blesse me withall I dispose thereofe as followeth Imprimis I give and devise unto JOHN FARMER THE ELDER of Pirton in the County of Hertford my COSEN for and during the the terme of his naturall Life All and every my Freehold Messuages Cottages Lands pastures tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances scituat Lying and being in Shitlington aforesaid and alsoe all and every my Coppyhold and customary Lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances in Shitlington aforesaid holden of the Manor of Shitlington in the County of Bedfordshire aforesaid by Coppy of Court Roll And after his decease then I give and devise the same Freehold Messuages Cottages Lands pastures tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances in Shitlington aforesaid and alsoe all and every my said Coppyhold and customary Lands and tenements with the appurtenances in Shitlington aforesaid holden of the Mannor aforesaid by Coppy of Courte Roll unto JOHN FARMER THE YOUNGER my COSEN sonne of the said JOHN FARMER THE ELDER and to his heirs and assignes for ever of which premisses as is Coppy hold I have made a surrender to the use of my will Provided allwayes and upon Condicion notwithstanding that if the said John Farmer the elder and John Farmer the younger my cosens or either of them or either of their heires doe and shall well and truely pay or cause to bee paied out of my said freehold and Coppyhold Lands and tenements unto ANNE ARNOLD wife of WILLIAM ARNOLD of Pirton aforesaid my COSEN the full summe of twenty pound of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine within one yeare next after my decease And alsoe doe and shall well and truely pay more out of my said Freehold and Coppyhold Lands and tenements unto MARY FARMER my SISTER IN LAWE and unto ROBERT FARMER and JOSEPH FARMER her two sonnes my COSENS the summe of five pouns a piece of Lawfull money of greate Brittaine within one yeare next after my decease Item my will and meaning further is that if it shall happen the said John Farmer the elder and John Farmer the younger my Cosens or their heires to neglect or refuse to pay the said generall summes of money to the said Anne Arnold Mary Farmer Robert Farmer and Joseph Farmer soe appointed unto them by this my will then I give and devise all my said Freehold and Coppyhold Messuages Cottages Lands tenements and hereditaments above in this my will mentioned unto the said Anne Arnold Mary Farmer Robert Farmer and Joseph Farmer To have and to hold unto them and their heires untill they and every of them shall be fully satisfyed and paied the said summes of money soe appointed unto them as is above in this my will mencioned Item I give and devise more unto the said Anne Arnold my Cosen all and every my household goods which I shall leave at the time of my decease Item all the rest and residue of my personall estate money goods and Chattells unbequeathed my detts Legacies and funerall expenses first paied and discharged I give and devise unto the said John Farmer the elder my Cosen whome I doe make constitute ordeiyne and appointe sole executor of this my will renouncing all former wills heretofore by me made In Witnesse whereof I the said John Flint have hereunto sett my hand and Seale to this my will conteyned in one sheet of papper this two and twentieth day of July Anno domini 1718 and in the fourth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lors George by the grace of God King of greate Brittaine France and Ireland defender of the faith Signed [the mark of] Johannis Flint Witnessed Ed.
