WILL OF ABRAHAM POLHILL of SHOREHAM, yeoman Made 30th March 1624. Proved 12th November 1624. To be buried in the Churchyard at Shoreham. To wife Alice, use of all houses and lands for her lifetime. To son Edward, after death of Alice, Goddington land in shoreham on condition that Edward his heirs and executors pay to Abraham's son John L4 per annum. If payment lapses John is to enter into lands until arrears are paid. If John refuses to acquit Edward of each sum of money paid him he shall lose the benefit of the annuities. To son Edward, mansion house where Abraham lives called Goddington House with one acre of land in shoreham purchased by Abraham of Thomas Dunmole, on condition that Edward pays L10 to Jane Johnson daughter of his daughter Joan Johnson deceased when she is 21. If Edward does not pay, Jane may enter into messuage when she is 21 until the money is paid. To daughter Dorothie, wife of John Eversfield L20 within two years of death of wife Alice. To daughters Margaret and Friswide 12d. each. If son Edward does not pay Dorothie her legacy, then benefit to him in will to be void. To wife Alice two joined chests in room over the Hall and all goods in the room where he lies. Residue of goods to son Edward who is to be executor. Edward Staple and Edward Milles to be overseers. Witnesses. John Emerson, Thomas Pearis, Robert Caustin.
