Notities over Sarah BOVIS

1841 aged 35, living at the Sandhurst Workhouse, Cranbrook with her husband, Stephen Vidler, and children William, Mary, Sarah, Joseph and Thomas.

On Sunday evening last, after a lingering decay of about nine months, I believe, died one of the elder members of a family very numerous in this neighbourhood, and who have among its inhabitants some thirty years or more. The deceased was the wife of Mr Stephen Vidler, and her death was the result of a fall she met with about the time above indicated, and which produced so serious an injury by the fracture of the hip bone, I believe, that her medical attendant did not at first believe that she was likely to survive for three days. That a person nearly seventy-three years old should have lingered so long would appear to be a sign of extraordinary vitality; but her sufferings were, of course, severe. She was to have been buried, had circumstances permitted, on Tuesday, (17th) in the Wesleyan Chapel yard. The state of the weather, however, obstructed the arrangements; and the funeral was deferred to the following day. At the moment I write this, I am not within reach of information as to what actually took place.
