Settlement dispute: The examination of Aaron Scadding now residing in the parish of Winsham in the county of Somerset, labourer, taken on oath 31 July 1794. he was born in the parish of Hemyock in county of Devon. He is about 79 years of age. That he lived at Hemyock with his parents till he was about 25 year of age when he went to Churchtaunton and hired himself as a servant to Joshia Brown for a year but after he had lived there about six months he quitted his service and lived in Churchtaunton as a day labourer for five or six years and during that time he married his late wife Thomasin. That he then went with his wife to the parish of West Buckland where he worked as a day labourer for four or five years and during that time he had a daughter born there. That he then went to the late Earl Poulett and agreed to serve him as Warrener for 14 years. That the Warren House as he believes is situated in the parish of Crewkerne and this examinant and his said wife and daughter lived therein and he went every day to Hinton
House and had his victuals. That after he had been there a year he had another daughter born at that the said Warren House. That after he had been there about seven or eight years his wife died. That his said two daughters remained with him and when the youngest was about 20 years of age she went to London whewre she is marrieds as he believes and the eldest staid with him till she was married then she left him and she is now as he believes living in the Isle of Wight but whether her husband is living or not he does not know. That after the marriage of both his daughters and... and... Warren as aforsaid for sixteen or eighteen years that after the death of the late Earl Poulett this examinant went to Winsham where he has resided ever since.
