1648, Sep 4. He had a grant of 30 acres on payment of £3.
1650, Jan. 24. He bought land of John Cranston.
1655. Freeman.
1667, May 20. He bought land in Navesink, N. J., of Robert Carr, of Newport.
1668, Apr. 25. He had ear mark for his live stock granted. He had deeds at different times of land in New Jersey, Dartmouth, Mass. and Portsmouth, R. I. He and his wife were Quakers.
1679, Aug. 31. "Joan Slocum the wife of old Giles she Dyed at Portsmouth the 31st 6mo. 1679," as Friends' Records state.
1681, Oct. 10. Will—proved 1683, Mar. 12. Exx. daughter Joanna Mott. Overseers, John Easton, Walter Clark and Arthur Cook. To son Samuel, 5s. To son John, 5s. To son Giles, all lands and housing in Portsmouth, except 4 acres and small tenement in occupation of William Rickinson, house carpenter. To son Giles, also a great chest, table, bedstead and great chair. To son Ebenezer, 5s. To son Nathaniel, two shares of land near town of Shrewsbury, New Jersey. To son Peleg, half a share in Dartmouth. To son Eliezer, quarter of a share in Dartmouth. To daughter Johannah Mott, three-quarters of a share of land near Shrewsbury, N. J. To daughter Mary Tucker, 4 acres and small tenement in Portsmouth and 16 acres on Conanicut Island.
To son Eliezer, two oxen, four cows and a horse. To daughter Johannah Mott, £5 and a riding horse. To "my loving friends the people of God called Quakers,'' £4, to be paid into the men's meeting on Rhode Island. To three children Nathaniel and Eliezer Slocum and Johannah Mott, all bedding equally. To each grandchild, five sheep. To five children Nathaniel, Peleg and Eliezer Slocum, Johannah Mott and Mary Tucker, rest of estate undisposed of.
