ENOS WALTER STALEY
Enos Walter Staley, son of Joseph and Katherine Smith Staley, was born
October 4, 1909 on a farm southwest of Glen Elder, Kansas. He grew to manhood in the Naomi Community attending the Excelsior Grade school graduating with the class of 1925.
Enos was an outdoor lover and enjoyed the opportunity to spend many hours tilling the soil for various crops. He also enjoyed sports and spent many hours hunting and fishing as long as his health permitted. He served in the C.C.C. Camp at Ionia and later received a medical discharge. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 320 and the Rebekah Lodge No. 352 at Glen Elder, he was a Past Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge and always enjoyed working in the lodge.
Enos had been in poor health for many years, his afflictions becoming more pronounced the last two years. On the morning of July 20, 1969 he suffered a heart attack and passed away very suddenly at the age of 59 years, 9 months and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Those left to mourn his passing are four brothers, Edward of Cawker City, William of Alton, Henry of Beloit, and Nelson of the home, two sisters, Dorothy Luckey of Glen Elder and Ida Luckey of Beloit, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. A link in the chain of our family circle has broken and we will miss our loved one so much as we go onward down the pathway of life.
