New England, who md. for his second wife Thomasine Clopton, sister of the aforesaid William Clopton, of Groton.
"Henry Townsend, "Gentleman," and Margaret Forthe, "Gentlewoman," were md. at St. John Zacharies, London, by Rev. Ambrose Golden, minister, 5 Nov 1590; and the said Margaret was bur. at Bracon-Ash, 23 Jun 1596.
They had :
i. Robert, bap. 8 Jun 1591 (old style),
ii. Arthur, bap. 16 Nov 1593, who died young.
iii. Thomas, bap. 8 Jan 1594-95.
iv. Elizabeth."

Henry Townsend, Gentleman, bapt. "last of May 1568"; at St John Zacheries, London by Rev. Ambrose Golden, Minister, Margaret Forthe, "Gentlewoman", dau. of Robert Forth, and a cousin of Mary Forthe, first wife of John Winthrop, Esq. Margaret was bur. at Bracon -Ash 23 Jun 1596, and Henry Townsend md. second Anne, dau. of Berthram Calthorpe, Counselor of the Middle Temple, London, and of Anringham and Ormsby, County Norfolk. No issue by her. She was bur. 4 Oct 1629 (Parrish Register of Intwood County Norfolk). Henry Townsend sold Bracon-Ash to Sir Edmund Riche in 1599. This family, with ther neighbors, the D'Oylys,* the Southwells, and the Rookwoods, for recusancy were compelled to compound for their estates by Queen Elizabeth, which eventually ruined them. * (The D'Oylys are related earlier not certain they are one and the same but the name is unusual -probably so-note by Lesley)
Henry Townsend's will is dated 19 Sep 1624, and was proved at Norwich, Norfolk, 29 Aug 1625. He gave to wife Anne an annuity of £40 during life; to son Robert £400, to be paid @ £100 a year, to son Thomas £300 to be paid @ £50 a year, to son Thomas £300 to be paid @ £50 a year, to his dau. Elizabeth £200 to be paid @ £50 a year.
