Thomas Wickes, a son of John, Senior, was a representative in the General Assembly for several years, and for more than twenty consecutive years (1715-1738), Assistant, a position corresponding to that of State Senator of the present day. He was Town Clerk from 1712 to his death in 1742, with the exception of the year 1720. His descendants are numerous in the State. One of the Coweset farms, set off in 1684, lying about a mile east of Rocky Hill School House, still remains in possession of his descendants, the present occupant being Mr. Oliver A. Wickes.
