Provided 8 Jul 2014 by ThomasRenehan from [Complete Peerage, XII/2:941-2] - WILLIAM (LA ZOUCHE), LORD ZOUCHE, or LA ZOUCHE (of Haryngworth), son and heir, was said to be aged 40 and more at his father's death. His great-grand-father, the 1st Lord, had licence, 27 Oct 1351, to grant the manor of Bridgwater, Somerset, to this William and his wife Agnes, who together also succeeded (under a settlement) to the manors of Brafield and Little Houghton, Northants, on his said great-grand-father's death in 1352. He may have been the man who was going to Ireland with William de Windsor, February 1368-9; he had seisin of his father's lands, 20 Jun 1382; was accused before Parliament of inventing an accusation against the Duke of Lancaster in 1384. but was acquitted; accompanied Richard II on his only expedition into Scotland, 1385; had licence to fortify and crenellate his manor of Harringworth and to have a yearly fair and weekly market there, 8 May 1387; and was one of those removed from Court by the victorious Lords Appellant, early in 1387/8. He married, 1stly, before 27 Oct 1351, Agnes, apparently dau. of Sir Henry GREEN, Chief Justice of the King's Bench (1361-65), of Boughton, Drayton and Green's Norton, Northants, by Katherine, dau. of Sir Simon DE DRAYTON, of Drayton. She was living, 2 Dec 1391. He md., 2ndly, apparently aft. 28 Apr. 1393, Elizabeth, widow of John (DE ARUNDEL), 2nd LORD ARUNDEL (died 14 Aug. 1390), dau. of Edward (LE DESPENSER), 1st LORD DESPENSER, by Elizabeth de jure suo jure (according to modern doctrine) BARONESS BURGHERSH, dau. and heir of Bartholomew (BURGHERSH), 2nd LORD BURGHERSH. He died 13 May 1396. Will, directing bur. at Harringworth, dated at Clipsham, Rutland, 4 May 1396, proved 4 Jun following at Stowe Park. His widow, who was assigned dower, 3 Jul 1396, died 10 or 11 Apr 1408. Will, directing bur. in Tewkesbury Abbey, dated 4 Apr 1408, proved 1408 at Lambeth.
