----------------------------------
Andrew Moore was born in Jun 1688 in County Antrim, Ireland to James Moore and Mary. He md. on 2 Feb 1715 to Margaret Miller, dau. of Guyon Miller and Margaret Henderson. She died aft. 1722. Andrew arrived in America at New Castle, Delaware on 3 Aug 1723. On 24 Apr 1725, he md. Rachel Halliday in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Andrew settled in what is now Sadsbury, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He bought several tracts of land on both sides of the Octoraro Creek. He built the first mill in the southwest, near Penningville, Chester, Pennsylvania. Also, he built additional mills and buildings alongside the river. Andrew was involved in farming and milling as an occupation.
Andrew also had literary talent, and wrote poetry. Here is one of the poems he wrote:
"The reason why those lines I pen,
Was love to thee my little friend,
As I am now a man in years,
That has partook of joys and fears,
I find that in the bloom of youth
We ought to love and seek the truth,
And not like some put away
Far out of sight the evil day,
Saying it's time enough for me
I wish more pleasures for to see,
But don't consider how that death,
May in a moment stop their breath
And to this wourld must bid adieu,
Then fearful judgment must ensue
Or if the sentence then be past,
Into the lake let them be cast,
That doth with flaming sulphur flow
Forever to remain in woe.
Therefore my dear let us prepare,
While time to us is given;
And strive for to obtain a share,
With the blest saints in Heaven.
So now I shall conclude in love,
And that to all the human race;
Wishing each one for to improve,
In the ways of truth and grace."

He was a very active member of the Society of Friends. He established the Friends Meeting House at Old Sadsbury in 1724; the meeting house was build the following year, in 1725. He was an overseer for the meetings from 1738 to 1750. His descendents remained their leader for over 100 years. He died on 5 Jul 1753. He is bur. at the Friends Burying Ground in Old Sadsbury, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
