Young; NOTE: Sir Thomas Yonge, born abt. 1365 was Burgess of Bristol. He is recorded as having witnessed various quit claims to tenements in Bristol England bet. 1403 and 1408. He became Sheriff of Bristol in 1407 and was elected Mayor three times in 1408, 1412, and 1420. Sir Thomas Yonge md. Joan Wootton Canynges, who was also born abt. 1365. She was the dau. of Walter Wootton and widow of John Canynges--by whom she was mother of the famous William Canynges. Sir Thomas Yonge and Joan Wootton Canynges had three children--Thomas Yonge, born abt. 1406 of the Middle Temple; Alice Yonge, born abt. 1407; John Yonge, Lord Mayor of London in 1466, was member of the Grocers Company, in Gregory's Chronicle he is referred to as a good Mayor "Menne callyed him the good Mayre," appears to have died in 1481 and his body would appear to have been removed to Bristol and bur. there in the Cathedral, was Knighted at the city gates by King Edward IV between Islington Shoreditch when he entered London in State after the City had beaten off Falconbridge.
