1676, Aug. 11. He and Major Peleg Sanford having discovered the hiding place of King Philip, informed Captain Benjamin Church, and that officer offered the honor of beating up Philip's headquarters to Captain Goulding, who accepted. The result was that the next day King Philip was killed.
1676, Nov. 1. It was ordered by Plymouth Colony, that "whereas Captain Roger Goulding of Rhode Island hath approved himself to be our constant real friend in the late war, and very officious and helpful as occasion hath been, when as our armies and soldiers have been in those parts and have had necessity of transportation of our men to the said island, and otherwise very ready to do us good, this court doth grant unto the said Captain Roger Goulding one hundred acres of laud lying and being upon the north side of Saconett men's line," &c.

1677, Jul. 13. He and two others complained to Plymouth Colony that they have met with opposition from some persons in their peaceful enjoyment of land granted them, by some threatening speeches. The court replied that they would maintain title against any who molest them in improvement thereof, "but as for words they must bear with them when they meet with them, and pass them over respecting the premises."
