Mrs. Sportel was bom February 17, 1921 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Haan) Triemstra and was a life resident of this community.
She was a very active member of the Second Christian Reformed Church where she helped in the kitchen and also provided transportation for seniors to church.
She had been employed for many years in local grocery stores in the meat department and retired in 1986 from Town & Country Market now known as the Hardings Market.
She was united in marriage on June 14, 1949 to Egbert Sportel who preceded her in death on May 31, 1981.
Surviving are two brothers, two sisters, and spouses, Bert and Grace Triemstra of Kalamazoo, Sinnie and Marvin Vlietstra of Paw Paw, Mildred and Jim McGee and Alvin Triemstra all of Kalamazoo; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Tacoma, Henry G. and Louise Sportel, Connie and John Visser all of Kalamazoo, Adrian and Wilma Sportel of Scotts, Ronald and Garilyn Sportel of Kalamzoo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Sportel will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3013 Nichols Rd. with Pastor Harvey Ouwinga and Pastor Kenneth Slager officiating.
Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery.
