Duncan Robertson was an officer in the 42nd Highland Regiment (Black Watch), exact rank now unknown, but his sword and sash were last known to be in the possession of his descendants in Tabusintac, NewBrunswick.
Part of his regiment participated in the Revolutionary War in 1775.
He sailed from Glasgow Scotland in early part of 1776. Engaged in Battle of Long Island under command of Major Murray, Battle of White Plains, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Stirling. Lieutenant Norman MacLeod was wounded in the latter battle; regiment also in other engagements. See; British Battles on Land and Sea. Volume 2 Chapter 34.
At conclusion of war the regiment was disbanded, officers and men were given grants of land in various parts of what is now eastern Canada. Duncan Robertson it is believed, was first given a grant of land where the cotton mill now stands at Marysville, but later moved to another grant on the Tabusintac River; some of his descendants are still there.
Duncan Robertson Married Elizabeth Wishart, both of Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland. The latter, with a brother, William Wishart, accompanying her husband to America.
