Robert Bruce was named as an heir to the throne but would die without legitimate children on the 3rd of December 1318 in battle near Dundalk in Ireland. By the time that Marjorie had died in a riding accident in 1317, Parliament decreed her then infant son, Robert, as the heir presumptive.
