Sir John Dymoke was the son of Sir John de Dymoke, Usher of the Exchequer and wife Felicia Blessis Harville. He married Margaret de Ludlow, daughter of Sir Thomas de Ludlow and Catherine Stokes, an heiress who brought him considerable property. They raised at least three sons. He died April 15, 1381, at the age of 66, and was buried at Horncastle, Mareham-on-the-Hill, Lincolnshire, England.

He was most likely born c. 1315, in Lincolnshire, possibly in Mareham-on-the-Hill, but certainly NOT at Scrivelsby, which was his wife's inherited property. His descendants did live at Scrivelsby. See http://www.ludlowfamilytree.org/shrewsbury/shrewsburybook.htm for ownership of this manor.

Mareham-on-the-Hill is a small parish in the district of Horncastle. a medieval town in Lincolnshire. It became the family seat of the Dymoke family for many generations, for those not seated at Scrivelsby, and many generations of the family are buried there.
