• Concern or Conflict. All research data I have accumulated tends to point to John Bush being the son of Martha, NOT Ann, as commonly published on the internet. "OR" John Bush and Jacob Bush are the same person. This is also supported by the parents data: John is NOT mentioned in Ann [Alexander] Bush's will. Jacob is NOT metioned in the father, Abraham's will. If a person was "disowned" by a parent, the practice in those days was to leave them one dollar. (Legally considered disinherited in early 1700's), so I do not believe that is the case. Also, the likelihood of BOTH parents omitting DIFFERENT children is extremely slim. Additionally, we know both "names" were alive at the time of both parents death. The name we know as John died after 7 september 1745, the date on his will. Since the name Jacob was metioned in his mother's will and she died after Abraham, it's obvious Jacob was alive. The name "John Jacob" is quite common and was so during that period. It is 'possible' Jacob was the preferred name used by Mom, while all legal documents utililized John. Not a single document has surfaced (YET) utilizing Jacob, except for Ann's will. Additionally, all son's names, except Jacob, appear on deeds for surrounding lands. I need more proof either way.
