Jacob Borgman was born in February 1855 in the country village of Pieterburen in the former -until 1990- municipality of Eenrum, located in the northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, son of the single servant maid Trientje Jakobs Borgman. His widow Janna died in January 1952 at the age of 90 years, probably in Whiteside County, Illinois.
