According to writing by granddaughter Mary Madgalena Zwemer Nielsen (about 1935)
"Our grandfather, Cornelius Peter, was born February 23, 1802 married Janna Magdalena Doublaar, [Dobbelaar] born 1806, married 1830. He died 1877. Grandmother died 1881 in Saugatuck, Mich.
The means of livelihood from way back was grinding in the old mill, passed on from one generation to the next, and C.P. Zwemer operated this mill 17 years, had two sons, Jan H. and Adrian Cornelius.
Grandfather, Cornelius Peter, left the Netherlands with the Van Raalte colonists in April 1847 on the sail vessel "Aangenaam" meaning comfort, [actually it was the Wilhelm von Wolgast] taking six weeks for the trip. These colonists came to Black Lake which is now the City of Holland, Mich. I never learned why to this particular spot. He was a farmer and a carpenter in the winter months. His second son, Adrian Cornelius, followed in his trade for many years. His eldest son was always a farmer around and about Holland.
(MMZ went on to list the children and grandchildren). She ended by saying: A.C. Zwemer and wife lie buried in Riverside Cemetery at Saugatuck beside C.P. Zwemer and his wife."
