At the time of their marriage in 1897 and in the 1900 census Albert's occupation is listed as a steel polisher. The 1900 census indicates he had been unemployed for two months, probably April-May of 1900.
In 1909, son Marvin's birth certificate lists Albert's occupation as a Carpenter. This remained true for the rest of Albert's life.
In 1946, Albert and Myrtle paid $60 for their gravesites in Lake Forest Cemetary. $28.80 went into a Cemetary Trust Fund from the city of Grand Haven.
Great-grandpa Albert died when I (Allyn) was 10. We occasionally visited them in Grand Haven on Sunday afternoons. My best remembrance of Albert was that he always had a "cup" that he kept on a bookcase by the front door in which he kept pennies. When it was time to go home, he often got that cup and gave each of the kids a penny.
