Ozinga Dies

South Suburban residents wil

pay their last respects today to

Martin Ozinga. political leader,

businessman and pioneer resident

of' Worth township.

Ozinga died Sunday in Engle-

wood hospital after what suburban

political leaders termed a

lifetime of dedicated service to

the community. The 66 year old

man, father of four sons, including

State Sen. Frank Ozinga, and

one daughter, was founder and

president of tire First National

Bank of Evergreen Park and

founder of Ozinga Brothers Fuel

company.

He had been Evergreen Park

police chief for eight years between

1920 and 1928, police magistrate

for 18 years and Republican

precinct captain for 25

years.

Ozinga is survived by his

widow, Wilma: .sons, Frank, Martin

Jr., Richard and Norman;

one daughter. Mrs. Anna Grace,

five sisters and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. in

the Evergreen Park Christian

Reformed church, 9545 S. Homan

ave.. and interment in Evergreen

Park cemetery.

Of the many suburban leaders

who cited Qzinga's contribution

to the community was Evergreen

Park president Joseph

Tanner who said Ozinga was "

pioneer of the village and true

civic leader." Christ Rust,

Worth township supervisor, who

knew Ozinga for 40 years, and

Henry Bland. Worth township

assessor, both added that Ozinga's

death was a great loss to the

community and the township.
