Notes
Kate Lea ; married at Mobile, Ala., to H, G. Donald, of England. Of this marriage there
was issue two sons and several daughters.
The following kindly sent by Mr. Peter Grant...a copy of Henry Alfred Schroeder's
Will, with mention of his step-daughter, Lucy Angelica Schuyler, b. 1837, who
married George Gano Gazzam, b. 1831, and to Martha Ellen Muldon, b. 1869
daughter of his step-daughter Mary Elizabeth Schuyler Muldon, b. 1832. This is
a part of the Schroeder/Schuyler/Gazzam family connection.

Excerpt...from Henry Alfred Schroeder, per notes in his will...
Item #7 (page 5-6)...I give and bequeath to my sons Gilliat and William Francis
Schroeder and the survivor of him the sum of Twenty Thousand Dollars in trust
for the sole and separate use benefit and behalf of Kate Lea Donald wife of
Harry G. Donald, the daughter of my deceased step-daughter Lucy nee
Schuyler, free from the control debts or engagements of any husband of the said
Kate Lea as her separate equitable estate I direct that said sum of Twenty
Thousand Dollars be invested in bonds of the state of Alabama, or otherwise as
said trustees or the survivor of them may deem best for her. I direct that the
interest on said investments be paid to the said Kate Lea during her natural life
and that on her death to principal shall be held by said trustees or the survivor of
them in trust for the child or children of said Kate Lea Donald, if any, in life at that
time, share and share alike. If there be more than one , to be paid over to them
as they respectively reach the age of twenty-one years. In case of her death
during the minority of any such child or children, the interest on his or their
portion of said fund shall be applied to his or their maintenance and support. If
Kate Lea dies in my lifetime without a child (her-heir?) surviving, then the sum of
money herein bequeathed in trust for her benefit shall be and remain a part of
my estate, the same in all respects as if this provision for her benefit had not
been made. If she dies after my decease without a child her surviving, then my
will is that said fund bequeathed in trust for her shall immediately become in
equal parts the individual property of my sons Gilliat and William F. Schroeder or
the survivor in case of the death of one of them before that time.
Item #8 (page 6)...I give and bequeath to Martha Ellen Muldon, daughter of my
step-daughter Mary Elizabeth Muldon, deceased, the sum of Five Thousand
Dollars, ($5,000) which I direct my Executors to pay over to her upon her coming
of age. But if the said Martha Ellen shall die in my lifetime, then said sum shall
remain a part of my estate the same as if this bequest had not been made.
