Mrs. Fischer Dies In Hospital
Mrs. Katherine Fischer, 79, whose home was in Hendricks township, one miles east of the Second Mt. Pleasant Church, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital, where she was takes Tuesday afternoon. She had been in poor health for three years and seriously ill since Sunday.
Mrs. Fischer was born in Shelby county, June 22, 1880, a daughter of Anthony and Mary H. Minster. She was married October 30, 1900, to John B. Fischer, who died January 12, 1953. The couple had resided in Shelby county with the exception of 11 years spent in Johnson county. Mrs. Fischer was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Alter Society of the church.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Eileen Merrick and Earl Fischer, at home; Mrs. William Woods, Franklin, R. R. 1 and Mrs. Ed Braunagle o R. R. 6, Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Three sons died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Lorena Thoman, died in 1931.
Funeral services in charge of the Murphy Mortuary will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Church, with Rev. Bernard Burgert officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be said Thursday at &;30 p.m. (Obit: Shelbyville News, Oct. 14, 1959)
