DORA (VANDERSCHAAF) VALK, 94, Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, died Saturday July, 23, 1983 at Harbor Crest. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma Funeral Home with Dickson Rothwell, intern pastor at the First Reformed Chuch, Fulton, officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery. VIsitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the First Reformed Church, Fulton.
Dora Valk was born in Garden Plain on Tuesday Jan. 8, 1889, the daughter of John VanderSchaaf and Henrietta Housenga and was educated in rural Whiteside County schools. On May 25, 1909 she married Frank Valk in Fulton. He preceded her on Dec. 20, 1959. She farmed with her husband in the rural Whiteside County area and then moved to Fulton, residing at 1516 4th St.
Since 1978 she has resided at Harbor Crest Nursing Home. She was a member of the Helping Hands Society, the Ladies Aid Society, and the First Reformed Church of Fulton. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Albert (Helen) Poel and Mrs. Leonard (Etta) Feldt, both of Fulton, Mrs. Harold (Jeanette) Bush, Morrison, and Mrs. Jenny Geerts, Chadwick; one son, Dick Valk, Morrison; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frida Vandermyde, Morrison; and one brother, Dick VanderSchaaf, Austin, Minn.
