Derk studied Theology at thetown of Hardewijk.
Derk,also called Didericus, was a preacher at various reformed churches
in the Wisch valley, during his tenure at the reformed churchat Silvolde
the church was under scrutiny as the catholic and protestant churches and
members argued over who should get the church, and its posessions. Derk
remained and his son Jan Willem huender Ten Cate followed in his fathers
footsteps. Both lie burried to this day in a small family grave on the
grounds of the church. (See photos) Derk was married to Harmina Antonetta
Weddelink daughter of Mr ds Arnoldus Weddelink, and Arnolda Ten Cate.
They had 11 children, some dying at early age.
