Film #109241 contains an entry in the year 1772 in which Freerk Hindriks Minkes had his children by Willemtje Pieters christened. He was required to stand up for each one of them to get them christened in the Dutch Reformed Church. The entry notes thatthe children are being baptised because their Mother had been a Mennonite.
Evidently this is now a dead end. There are essentially no records for the Mennonite people in this area. Robert Ouzts searched for direct record and court records for this marriage or her personal information with no success. Her name is recorded onlyone time that I can find. That is in the death record for her daughter Greitje Freerks Minkes. In that entry the name looks like Willemtje Pieters Krol or perhaps Krop. The Veenkolonin Boerderijenbook calls her Willemtje Pieters Knap.
Fenna de Vries reports that many Mennonites had their origin in Switzerland. Further that they usually had good financial resources. She told me that one possible way to trace these people is through the local church on a strictly local approach. Evidently they keep records but don't readily hand them over to authority. This may explain why Freerk Hindriks Minkes had a good farm. Perhaps he married a woman with good financial resources.
Fenna de Vries, after further research in the local area, reports that Knap was never a Mennonite name used in this area of Holland. The death certificate of her daughter Grietje Freerks Minkes states that her name was Krol. Fenna de Vries corrects thisto Kral.
