Jeanette Ann Schipper, age 78, of Grundy Center, Iowa, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Egbert and Gertie (Mehmen) Eckhoff on April 6, 1936, at home near Aplington, Iowa. She was baptized into the Christian faith at First Reformed Church in Aplington. She received her education from a country school near her home.
On March 1, 1955, Jeanette was united in marriage with George D. Schipper at the First Reformed Church. They lived and farmed around the Parkersburg area most of the time and due to health reasons she moved to Grundy Center, Iowa. Jeanette worked for Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington in the House Keeping Department for 28 years.
Jeanette was currently a member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg and was active in the Women’s Group. She enjoyed playing the piano, canning, baking and gardening. She was famous for her homemade strawberry Angel food cake that she made for special events. Through the years she loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially took pride in her family’s interests.
Jeanette died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Grundy County Hospital from cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Remmer, Harry and Egbert Eckhoff.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 59 years, George D. Schipper of Grundy Center; two daughters, Phyllis Schipper of Waverly, and Verlene (Ronald Randall Jr.) Siefken of Grundy Center; seven grandchildren, Paul Siefken, Ryan Siefken, Chuck (Keri) Davis, Ronnie Randall, Casandra (Doug) Wiers, Tony (Samantha Holtkamp) Fritz, and James Fritz; four great-grandchildren, Kenzi Fritz, Charlie Davis, Austen Fritz-Holtkamp, Ana Wiers; four sisters-in-law, Jeanette Eckhoff of Reinbeck, Lucille Eckhoff of Allison, Ana Mae Stahl of Wellsburg and Anna Mae Schipper of Ackley; and special friends, Anna Mae Mehmen and Laura Nicklaus both of Parkersburg.
