Funeral Services for Angelina Herman will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the St. John's Catholic church, in Independence, with the Rev. William E. Franklin and the Rev. Al Vorwald officiating. Mass will be concelebrated by the priest of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Music will be provided by St. John's choir with Tim Leonard, soloist and Betty Huston, piano accompanist.
Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Chris Herman, Danny Herman, Mark Herman, Zachary Herman, Russell Pint, and Jerry Short serving as casket bearers. There will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas honor guard.
A rosary and parish vigil service were held during visitation at the Reiff funeral Home Friday.
Mrs. Herman, 99, died Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 1997, where she lived with her daughter in Simi Valley, Calif., after a short illness.
She was born Aug. 12, 1897, in Independence, the daughter of Edward and Lena (Reuter) Pint. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Independence. On Feb. 5, 1929, she married John Herman at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The couple farmed in the Brandon area until retiring in 1978 and moving to Independence. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Brandon Farm Circle Club, and the Line Creek Community Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Stewart of Simi Valley; three sons, Francis of Evans dale, Leonard of Spring Valley, Tenn., and John of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, June 2, 1979; one son, the Rev. Ray Herman; one daughter, Mary Ann; three brothers, Carl, Francis, and Leo Pint; and four sisters, Cecelia Power, Ida Blitch, Julia and Theresa Pint.
