Glen "Pete" De Pree, of Holland, passed away at home early Monday morning, March 2, 2015.
Glen was born in Zeeland on July 23, 1934 to Adrian and Edith (Kroeze) De Pree, the youngest of five children. He was a graduate of Zeeland High School and Hope College. After college he married and moved to Alabama and served two years in the Armed Forces. After serving his country he returned, with his family, to Zeeland and the family business known as Quality Home Furnishings. He gave his heart and soul to building the business, he took pride in offering furniture that was high quality, and to creating a store that was a value to the community.
He loved God, church, family and his community. His other passions were dogs (his current companion was KoKo) and politics (typically hot debates even with family).
He is survived by his children, Paul De Pree of Chicago, Robert De Pree of Holland, and Timothy (Kristy) De Pree of New Jersey and their children Joshua and Jeremy. Glen is also survived by his former wife, Beverly De Pree of Holland who remained a confidant, helpmate and friend. He is also survived by siblings, Bruce (Elaine) De Pree, Lila (Ken deceased) McCormack, Willard (Elizabeth) De Pree, Gordon (Lenore) De Pree. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The immediate family would like to give special thanks to Tom who helped him in small but significant ways over the years.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 with the funeral service to follow at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 State Street, Zeeland. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to KANDU Industries. www.yntemafh.com
