We originate in the lovely little village of Arth, which is on the southern end of Lake Train in the Canton of Schwitz, one of the three original cantons, just north of where William Tell was from. In Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain, where the tourists go up the Rigi Kulm, in the heart of Felchlin country. If you take the train up the Rigi today, you pass a now closed Hotel Felchlin on the way up. The traditional family occupation is innkeeping;baking. Papa left home in Basil as a teenager, trained in the hotel business in Paris, got a job in a hotel in Quebec and ended up with two restaurants in New York City. Today, the main bakery in Arth is owned by Jorg Felchlin and sons. One of the most renowned chocolatiers in the world in the last half century was Max Felchlin.
