Funeral services for Susan Jutting, 92. were held Monday, March 9, 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church with Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Interment was at Olena Mound Cemetery with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Marlene Krull was the organist and vocalists were Julie Beenken and Diana Kramersmeier. Casketbearers were Tom Smith, Deborah Smith, Daniel Smith, Tanya Loumakis, Jay Jutting, Randy Jutting, Eileen Jutting and Jeralyn Smith.
Susan Jutting was born December 14, 1905 on a farm near Rake, Iowa, the daughter of Heiko and Jeanette (Bruhns) Jurgens. She was baptized in infancy by Rev. Watermuelder.
She attended country school and graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1924, and taught country school for six years.
She was married to John H. Jutting on June 4, 1930. They were blessed with two children, Gweneth Elaine and Eldon John. They farmed in the Buffalo Center and Rake area from 1930 until retirement in 1963 and continued living on the farmuntil John's death in 1975. Sue moved to Buffalo Center later that year.
She was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church of Buffalo Center, where she received her catechetical instruction. She was a member of the RCWM, Ruth Circle, and also a Golden Club member.
Sue passed away on Thursday, March 5, 1998 at the Musc-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
She is survived by a daughter, Owen Smith of Mason City; a son, Eldon and his wife, Allaire, Jutting of Ankeny; five grandchildren: Tom and his wife, Jc'ralyn, Smith of Chelsea; Deborah Smith of Mason City; Dr. Daniel Smith ofMinneapolis, Minnesota; Tanya Loumakis and her husband, Chris, of Fullerton, California and Jay Jutting of Boulder, Colorado. Sue is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Lyndsi Jae Loumakis; two stepgreat-granddaughters: Alysha andLorika Loumakis; two sisters: Stella Frerichs of Sioux City and Lena Harms of Buffalo Center; also a very special nephew, Howard Jutting, who lived with them for a time following the death of his mother. Howard and his wife, Birdene,live near Kanawha. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and several dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, on August 7, 1975, three sisters and three brothers." <>
